Meet the SAMS Guidance Team!

Ms. Martell, LSW,

School Social Worker,

School Counselor

Ms. Martell is currently in her third year at SAMS as a School Social Worker and School Counselor.

 

Ms. Martell grew up in Skowhegan and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 2005.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Relations from the University of Maine in 2009 and is currently studying for her Master’s in School Counseling at Husson University. 

 

Ms. Martell comes to us with over 10 years of Social Work experience, and she also is a per diem Social Worker at RFGH. Ms. Martell is currently the SAMS homeless children’s liaison.

This is Mr. Bigelow's fifth year at SAMS.

Mr. Bigelow received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Farmington with a minor in Addiction and is currently studying for his Master's Degree in School Counseling at the University of Southern Maine.

After working for State of Maine for the Department of Health and Human Services, his desire to work in education led him to a new profession as a Social Worker in a school setting. 

Mr. Bigelow's currently temporary stepping away from coaching to focus on his Master's Degree.

Mr. Bigelow also serves on the Somerset County Board of Public Health.

Mrs. Savage is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 15 years of experience in the behavioral health and mental health fields.  

 

With a strong passion for the science of Applied Behavior Analysis, she works district-wide to support students and staff with evidence-based principles to improve socially significant behaviors that may interfere with learning and social relationships.

 

Mrs. Savage also chairs the district’s crisis team, and is a member of the district’s Trauma Informed Committee.

Prior to working for MSAD 54, Mrs. Savage was consulting for school districts and early intervention agencies across the state. 

Mrs. Corbin, M.Ed., LCSW

Mrs. Corbin is in her sixth year contracted as a mental health therapist for SAMS.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has been in this field for seven years.  

 

Mrs. Corbin graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education English.  She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Social Work, both from the University of New England.

 

She follows evidence-based practices  and teaches various skills and techniques to assist students in maneuvering through stressors.  

Mrs. Corbin also has 10 years of teaching experience. She taught at MSAD 54 and also owned a private school.

 

She currently serves on the board for Somerset Public Health and is an advocate to end Human Trafficking.
