Ms. Martell (She/Her) is currently in her 5th year as a School Counselor and Social Worker at Skowhegan Area Middle School.

 

Born and raised in Skowhegan, she proudly graduated from Skowhegan Area High School before earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Maine.

 

With 16 years of dedicated social work experience in her hometown, Ms. Martell’s commitment to the community is unwavering. Ms. Martell holds a master’s degree in School Counseling from Husson University, further fueling her passion for guiding students toward academic and emotional success. Ms. Martell is currently the SAMS liaison for unhoused students. She is also a SAMS Community Champion through the ASPIRE program in our district.

Outside of work, Ms. Martell’s greatest joy is spending quality time with her family; especially her spirited 5-year-old daughter. Whether at the beach, reading, playing basketball or golf, these moments inspire and ground her. A lifelong Red Sox fan, she also loves cheering on her team and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

Mr. Bigelow is now in his 8th year as a School Counselor at Skowhegan Area Middle School.

He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Maine at Farmington, with a minor in Addiction Studies, and is currently pursuing his Master's in School Counseling at the University of Southern Maine.

Before transitioning to education, Mr. Bigelow worked for the State of Maine's Department of Health and Human Services. His passion for helping students led him to a fulfilling career in the school guidance department.

Outside of his work in education, Mr. Bigelow is actively involved in sports and outdoor adventures, including rugby and whitewater rafting. He shares his love of the outdoors with his wife and their dogs, and together they spend as much time as possible  enjoying the natural world.

He also serves on the Somerset County Board of Public Health and is SAMS Community Champion through the ASPIRE program in our district.

Mrs. Corbin is in her 8th year contracted as a mental health therapist for SAMS.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has been in this field for seven years.  

 

Mrs. Corbin graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education English.  She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Social Work, both from the University of New England.

 

She follows evidence-based practices  and teaches various skills and techniques to assist students in maneuvering through stressors.  

Mrs. Corbin also has 10 years of teaching experience. She taught at MSAD 54 and also owned a private school.
